Resist the Urge to Give Away Your Services

This is a simple profit calculation formula .

One of the biggest problems for inexperienced salespeople is to use price as their main negotiating and closing tool. If their prospects say no, they immediately drop the price hoping to magically hit a point where the prospects say, “Why not?” Then because the price was so low as to be irresistible, they buy. Frankly, that’s a pipe dream and rarely works.

It’s vital to your having a profitable business for you and your sales reps to learn how to resist the urge to give away your services. Ironically, had these green salespeople first listened to and understood their prospects needs then presented their products and services so as to make the value clear to them, they probably would have gotten the sales with more profit.  I’ve rarely seen anyone buy a product on price alone unless they already intend to buy and are shopping for the best price.

Not just beginners give away their services

But this isn’t just a problem for inexperienced salespeople. Most heart centered salespeople, myself included, want to help customers so we have a tendency to undervalue our services.

My friends, Judith & Jim, a couple who are both psychologists, came to Internet marketing and the field of sales and marketing about six years ago. During this period, they have recognized the inclination for heart centered salespeople and marketers to undervalue themselves and their services. They’ve experienced the challenge first hand. And they have developed the skill, including powerful guided inner explorations, to help you charge what you are worth.

About the Author

My first Kindle eBook, How Relationship Selling Rewards Small Businesses, went live on April 24, 2012. I've lived a lifetime of service and spiritual search so it's natural for me to incorporate these attitudes into my work. I believe that selling and marketing are spiritual service when done with a heart-centered, relationship selling approach. All of business success comes down to building strong relationships.
