How a Small Business Can Get 100% Commission-Only Sales Reps

By John R. Aberle | Small Business Management

Here’s a dream for hundreds of small business owners: developing a commission-only sales team. In Internet marketing terms, they are called affiliates. In the offline world, they would be rep firms.

Having consulted with over 100 small businesses, I found one of the most common concerns is how to increase sales. The problem for many of these brick-and-mortar businesses is that their budgets didn’t allow them to hire an experienced sales manager to hire, train and manage a sales team. And, as most of them are technicians or experts in their trade, they usually lack the experience in sales & marketing to develop a sales team.

The second most common experience related to selling in small businesses is that they want to hire sales people on commission only. What they fail to realize is that good sales people, who are self-starters and who can and do manage themselves, will go to larger companies that have a proven sales plan and an established demand for their products. After all, commission-only sales people need to make money quickly because they have no salary and no draw against commissions (a guaranteed minimum income, usually semi-monthly or monthly).

For all sales people, especially for outside sales reps, the biggest challenge is the number of cold calls it takes to find – and get to talk with – a prospect. Any time a prospect calls in or the rep gets a referral, the odds of getting the sale just skyrocketes.

So is there an easier way for small businesses to get warm prospects, i.e. people who have an interest already? There is!

Drawing on experiences in Internet marketing, one of the best ways to generate sales on a low budget is to develop affiliates. While it’s true that affiliate sales tend to be the highest priced sales you can get compared to advertising, they are “free” until there is a sale.

Gina Gaudio-Graves, the JV broker, has worked with both offline, e.g. brick-and-mortar companies, and online coaches, consultants, entrepreneurs and Internet marketers for well over a decade. (Be aware that “joint venture” in Internet marketing terms is really a strategic alliance with no ownership being shared like offline businesses expect from that term.)

If you are looking for a way to increase sales without hiring a sales team or for a means to generate the warm leads for your sales people to become more effective, you owe it to yourself to attend this Saturday’s Google+ Hangout on Air with Gina Gaudio-Graves.

One of the most exciting events for affiliate marketers and JV brokers is happening today. Tomorrow she will actually broker joint ventures (JVs) live on a Google Hangout. (You can watch from Facebook.)

Think of this as your Invitation to have “The JV Queen”, Gina Gaudio-Graves broker a Joint Venture for you, without charging you the 10% to 20% that you would normally pay to a broker!

Your broker commission on this JV is 0%!

Now that I have your attention, here’s what you’re being invited to…

About the Author

I have a strong love for small businesses, especially brick and mortar companies. After an 18-year career in sales and marketing, I started my own service company, which I grew in both sales and profits for the first five years. In my sixth year, the bottom dropped out of the printer market such that it made more sense to sell my assets and return to Southern California. There I went to work for an international small business consulting company. I spent over three years on the road with them helping small businesses to become more profitable and better managed. I then started my own company specializing in sales and marketing consulting, coaching and training. My emphasis is on heart-centered, relationship selling that empowers prospects to make their own choices.
